Changes to our packaging
Who else saw the bird programme with all the plastic in its belly or the turtle with a straw stuck up its nose? It made me sit up and want to make changes. Over the Christmas period, I spent many hours looking for eco friendly packaging. Its something I’ve wanted to do for a while and I was having massive guilt over Christmas at all the ‘bad’ packaging I was putting out there. This year, regular customers will start to notice changes to our packaging. This year, we really want to reduce the amount of plastic we use. Some things we can’t change just yet. The cellophane protecting bandanas from water for example. This is essential for outdoor events and unpredictable British weather! However, there are a lot of things we can!
We have always tried to use cardboard boxes instead of plastic mailers for larger items. This we will continue to do but we have replaced pretty white bleached boxes with regular brown ones. Tissue paper wraps your items on the inside to protect but can be recycled. (It still looks pretty too!) Our jiffy bags are being replaced with ‘green’ jiffy bags! These have a 100% recycled paper fibre lining and are fully recyclable, biodegradable and compostable. We are even going to change our packaging tape to a paper tape which is just as good but kinder to the planet.
Our dog tags will no longer come in a cellophane packet. Instead, they will arrive in a cute mini gold paper envelope. Its kinda prettier too!
Obviously, we will be using existing packaging up so the change will happen over time but I wanted to let you know that we really do want to do ‘our bit’ for the planet and all living things on it.
Please leave us a comment letting us know if you approve and we are always open to suggestions on how we can go greener!
